How you will make a difference:

The Business Analyst is responsible for setting the overall merchandise planning and inventory strategy for the retail business and ensuring the development of accurate financial plans, revisions, and projects. The role is also accountable for leading large organizational changes in people/process/systems as it relates to achieving strategic sales & inventory targets. This position is ultimately accountable for managing financial goals, vendor relations, forecast accuracy and inventory management. The Business Analyst will work in collaboration with Buyers, Operations and Finance to develop and implement inventory replenishment processes to drive revenue and profit.

What You’ll Do:


  • Deliver business results through the construction and presentation of analytical insights & recommendations of: Market analysis, strategic reviews of product & business operations
  • Ensure business initiatives are planned, executed & monitored using a new merchandising calendar
  • Provide recommendations based on business results through in-season management
  • Responsible for postmortem analysis & recommendations
  • Responsible for working through pre-season planning and market prep in partnership with Merchant teams
  • Develop and manage a suite of reporting surrounding business performance (historical and future forecast) at a detailed level with supporting executive summary.


  • Responsible for management of omni channel inventory to ensure alignment to location plans and sales trends
  • Manage allocations with analytical insights that support sales performance and provide updates to operations as required.
  • Manage & monitor flow against end-of-period (EOP) plan targets
  • Analyze key item trends and adjust forecasts, receipts, and inventory levels as needed to drive business
  • Optimize inventory levels by identifying consolidation and transfer needs using standard and/.or ad hoc reporting


  • Build & present the assortment analytics in order to recommend style count and unit density in alignment with prototype expectations.
  • Ensure model stock is monitored and followed on a regular perspective.
  • Door analysis by brand, commodity, colour/size
  • Regularly complete store visits, with written reports, identifying business opportunities.


  • Construct and manage the Financial Planning document (budget building & in-season management)
  • Recommend markdowns for financial optimization
  • Develop store clustering, location planning and sales productivity planning

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree (retail/business management is an asset).
  • Work experience is the following fields is an asset: Assortment Planning, Inventory Management (including Replenishment), Financial Planning, Analytics
  • High Proficiency in MS Office with advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to learn internal systems & web-based applications
  • Data utilization Tools experience is an asset (Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Access)
