Position Description

The Bilingual HR Coordinator is responsible for ensuring overall employee satisfaction within the office and store level (Canada and U.S.) and helping to foster a positive and productive working environment that reflects the Company’s mission and philosophy. This role is also responsible for strategic development and day to day administration of the human resources function which includes worker’s compensation, performance management, employee development, employee relations, store level recruitment/succession planning and best practices development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Resolve employee questions and inquiries through adherence of Company policies and procedures
  • Provide counsel and direction to employees with concerns and provide follow up to ensure situations are dealt with appropriately. Ensure “Open Door Policy” is recognized and utilized in a professional and confidential manner
  • Support the Operations team in responding to inquiries and / or resolving concerns
  • Act as a liaison between staff and Operations to ensure successful and effective issue resolution
  • Prepare job abandonment, confirmation of employment, employment verification and termination letters as required
  • Responsible for the disability and leave of absence program
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with laws that impact human resources; liaise with in-house legal counsel on all legal issues
  • Handle the day to day administration of the worker’s compensation program for assigned provinces/states
  • Communicate and distribute latest legislation posters to stores to ensure compliance with federal, state and legal requirements
  • Examine, refine and maintain all HR programs (including hiring, health and safety) and supporting documentation (employee handbook, policies etc.)
  • Assist in development, implementation and consistent application of HR policies
  • Administer the performance review program, monitoring compliance and effectiveness to ensure a consistent approach across the organization


  • Post-secondary education in HR or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years’ of working experience in Human Resources
  • CHRP designation preferred or in progress
  • Knowledge of Human Resource Legislature
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in HRIS an asset
  • Experience in dealing with labour unions an asset
  • Sound analytical ability coupled with creative problem solving skills
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and perform at optimum levels
