Allocation Analyst
Overview
The Allocation Analyst is responsible for ensuring the right products reach the right stores at the right time. This role blends data analysis, inventory planning, and collaboration with merchandising, planning, and supply chain teams to maximize sales, minimize stockouts, and support an efficient product lifecycle across the retail network.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Allocation & Replenishment — Execute allocation strategies that balance inventory across stores, considering sales trends, store capacity, regional demand, and product lifecycle.
- Inventory Optimization — Monitor stock levels, identify risks (overstock, understock, slow movers), and recommend corrective actions to maintain healthy inventory positions.
- Sales & Trend Analysis — Analyze historical and current sales data to forecast demand, identify patterns, and support data‑driven allocation decisions.
- Store Profiling — Maintain and refine store clusters based on performance, demographics, size, and assortment needs to improve allocation accuracy.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration — Partner with Merchandising, Planning, Supply Chain, and Store Operations to align on assortment strategies, promotional plans, and inventory flow.
- Reporting & Insights — Build and maintain allocation reports, dashboards, and KPIs to track performance and support decision‑making.
- New Product Launches — Support initial allocations for seasonal drops, new collections, and promotional events, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.
- Process Improvement — Identify opportunities to streamline allocation processes, enhance system accuracy, and improve forecasting models.
Job Requirements
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to interpret sales, inventory, and market data.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with retail KPIs.
- Attention to detail to prevent stock imbalances and ensure accurate forecasting.
- Problem‑solving ability to quickly identify discrepancies and adjust allocations.
- Curiosity and adaptability—staying tuned to retail trends and asking the right questions.
- Strong communication skills for working with buying, planning, merchandising, operations, and distribution teams.
- Understanding of:
- Store profiles and regional performance differences
- Seasonal trends and promotional cycles
- Product flow from distribution centers to stores
